Head of Electronics - R&D - Wearable

HEAD OF ELECTRONICS – R&D - WEARABLE Our client is specialises in the production of technical safety equipment for technical and safety clothing for a multitude of sports. SCOPE OF THE ROLE: Foster the expertise for the development of electronic products, contributing to the definition of company objectives and ensuring their development up to the efficient and timely production and respect of quality standards.

MAIN RESPONSBILITIES:

• Manage a cross functional team of engineers providing mentoring and guidance to direct report engineering positions;
• Manage a broad variety of products;
• Lead a cross functional team and manage all aspects of development to deliver projects with exceptional quality, on time and to budget which meet the needs of the customer;
• Interpret customer specifications and requirements to develop comprehensive product specifications. - Lead Problem Solving Initiatives;
• Lead FMEA, Reliability Studies;
• Work with cross-functional departments to include marketing, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, as required in the efforts of product realization;
• Plan, manage and report status of projects to the broader organization and management;
• Work closely with product management, sales, marketing, contribute to strategic planning process and develop product roadmaps to meet company growth initiatives;
• Develop detailed design requirements by understanding / obtaining voice of the customer, general market knowledge, competitive assessment and working with the sales and marketing organizations;
• Lead benchmarking and reverse engineering efforts to assess competitive technologies;
• Identify product costs and manage projects accordingly using a multi stage gate development process.

COMPETENCIES OF THE ROLE:

• Degree in Electrical and/or Software Engineering;
• Required over 8 years of experience in engineering mechanical, electrical or electro-mechanical based products;
• Excellent knowledge and use of engineering tools (such as DFMEAs, statistical engineering techniques, Design of Experiments, product capability analysis, etc.);
• Ability to work independently and develop and execute action plans to achieve results;
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects utilizing internal and external resources including global product development partners;
• Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills including the ability to perform root cause analysis;
• Required strong technical leadership and excellent interpersonal skill.
