For a leading international organisation operating across multiple countries, we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the newly established finance function in Italy.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day financial administration and general ledger accounting of the Italian entity.

• Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.

• Oversee financial processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance and risk management.

• Prepare and review financial information and provide accurate data to support financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.

• Apply strong knowledge of Italian GAAP, IFRS and Italian tax legislation to address complex accounting and reporting matters.

• Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities, including preparation of audit documentation and collaboration with external auditors and tax advisors.

• Ensure effective internal controls, financial governance and compliance with statutory and internal requirements.

• Work closely with the international finance team and external advisors across tax, compliance and audit.

• Lead and mentor a Financial Accountant, supporting their professional development through coaching and training.

• Contribute to building and continuously improving the finance processes of a newly established Italian organisation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting and finance.

• Strong experience in Italian GAAP; knowledge of IFRS is highly preferred.

• Solid background in financial accounting, general ledger and financial reporting.

• Experience with tax, statutory compliance and audit processes.

• Previous career progression from a Financial Accountant or similar accounting position.

• Bachelor's degree or higher education in Finance, Accounting or a related field.

• Experience gained within an international or multinational organisation is highly preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on and proactive approach.

• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and reliability.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an international finance team.

• Comfortable working in an environment where processes and structures are being built and improved.
